Mercury to Mars
Your ardent soul
Ever brightly shining,
Spurs me on past this dank tunnel.
I found my wings caked with mud,
The mire and blood-filled stench of the fall
Assaulted a variety of senses.
Through your hatred of this form,
I will find the strength to shed my skin.
Should I ever find you again
Alone and in the dark, shivering, afraid,
I will be the one to hold you close;
Warm you with a phoenix embrace.
If you need, throw your arms around my neck,
I will squeeze you tight,
As I did before, renewed in my purpose.
I will show you sights you have only dreamed of,
The way I feel is the only constant
In this swirling void of consciousness.
I can only ask for your support,
Your patience, as I strive to be
Better for myself.
